DESCRIPTION

Welcome to Akira Sushi, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Studio City, California. Located at 11830 Ventura Blvd, this sushi restaurant has quickly gained a reputation for delivering an exceptional dining experience. With a focus on freshness and authenticity, Akira Sushi captures the essence of Japanese culinary art, making it a must-visit destination for sushi enthusiasts.

At Akira Sushi, every dish tells a story, and the passion of the sushi chef, Leo, shines through in every bite. Diners rave about the omakase—an exquisite tasting menu that showcases the chef’s creativity and skill. Customers like Johnny L. describe the nigiri sushi as a sublime experience, harmonizing flavors and textures that rival those found in high-end establishments in LA and Tokyo. It's not just about the food; it’s about the journey of flavors brought to life by an expert hand.

Freshness is the cornerstone of the menu. Michelle De Mesa's recent visit highlights a delightful selection of chirashi topped with a mountain variety of fish, including sweet shrimp, octopus, and chutoro, all resting on a perfect bed of Hokkaido rice. The mastery with which the rice is prepared enhances the overall dining experience, creating a beautiful harmony between texture and flavor. The Hokkaido uni, celebrated for its rich taste, stands out as a true treasure from the sea.

Service at Akira Sushi is as appealing as the menu. Reviewers consistently praise the attentive and friendly staff, with many recalling their tea cups never being empty—a small detail that enhances the overall experience. As Shirley Sui aptly puts it, the inviting atmosphere around the sushi bar, filled with jokes and smiles, makes for a memorable dining setting.

For those ready to indulge, there are off-menu specials that showcase Leo's innovative spirit. As Max Schultz notes, let him guide you through a chef's choice dinner, promising a culinary journey that you will dream about long after the last bite. It’s not just a meal; it’s a heartfelt celebration of sushi that immerses you in a cultural experience unlike any other.

In conclusion, whether you are a sushi aficionado or new to the world of sushi, Akira Sushi offers a delightful escape that captures the soul of Japanese flavors. Its commitment to freshness, quality, and a welcoming atmosphere makes every visit a special occasion. So why wait? Your sushi adventure awaits!

We decided to go in and tried omakase here. To our surprise, it was fabulous. In our course, the nigiri sushi given to us embodied the traditional culture that usually can find in high end sushi restaurants in LA or Tokyo. The chef was able to bring out the fish flavor while striking a perfect balance between texture to sauce. Definitely will come back for another run. (Will provide another update after another random visit with friends.)

Went here 5/1/2024 for lunch service Hostess greeted me at the door. Sat at the bar and got Chirashi and Hokkaido Uni. Chirashi comes with soup and salad. Miso soup has tofu and chives, house salad has great dressing mixed in and the tomato on top the skin was peeled, sweetness burst in my mouth! Delicious. Chirashi has a mountain variety full of fish. Comes with what looks like octopus, sweet shrimp, crab, salmon, tuna, chutoro, albacore, yellowtail, seared white fish, 2 sweet scallops. The rice underneath was seasoned with seaweed and pickled seaweed. Very tasty! Also the rice is from hokkaido! Really great rice texture! Hokkaido Uni was very delicious! Definitely a treat! Service is great! My tea cup was never empty. Will definitely come again and try their omakase.

Leo's the best! My sister and I have been going to him for our sushi cravings for years. His ... Recipes? I'm not sure what it's called when it comes to nigiri... Always taste great, and I haven't found the same quality or taste elsewhere. He's always smiling and joking around with his diners, too, so the sushi bar seating is highly recommended. My pictures don't do the dishes justice, so if you're ever thinking about heading out to Studio City, definitely stop by. Or just come out just for the sushi, because it's worth it!

Akira is some of the best sushi you will find on the West Coast. The chef, Leo, is creative and passionate with his craft. The fish in unbelievably fresh. Ask about the off menu specials, and let Leo finish your dinner with chef’s choice. You’ll have dreams about it

The chef is amazing to arrange all the magical food and explaining details of each dish! It’s far beyond ordinary sushi place, probably the best omakase experience in town. I am lucky that there were three types of uni available that night. Everything fresh, beautifully decorated, special and yum!

Akira is hands down one of the best sushi experiences in Studio City! The ambiance is phenomenal, offering the perfect setting for a romantic date night. My wife and I have been here multiple times, and each visit is better than the last. The quality of the sushi is unmatched—ultra-fresh, straight from the fish market every day. Every bite melts in your mouth, and the attention to detail in the presentation is impressive. If you're looking for high-quality sushi and an elevated dining experience, Akira is the place to go!

I had one of the best sushi dining experience in Studio City. As a true sushi lover, Akira's food was absolutely delicious, their omakase was super worth it, lots of expensive ingredients for that price, staffs are very knowledgeable and helpful as well, most importantly - chef Leo is fun and take his work very seriously - he is a true perfectionist! There are so many sushi places on Ventura Blvd but this is the spot I'd come back for sure, you can get fresh sushi anywhere but you can't get the same experience elsewhere! You can see I really had a great time! :)
